Camden Haven Dragon Boats Inc first paddled on Australia Day 2008.
Our club is open to people of all ages over 12 who want to try out or develop their skills in this, the fastest growing sport in Australia. We welcome first time triers who we will coach and mentor so that they get the very best out of themselves whilst keeping fit and enjoying the beautiful scenery too!
We have a competitive side too and compete in all the local regattas as well as planning a repeat of our own successful regatta in August of this year. In 2011 we’ve had 11 of our club paddlers represent the State in the Regional team at the Aus DBF Nationals. The medal haul was excellent. We also sent a club squad to the AUS DBF National Championships in Canberra and were delighted to get into 2 finals at our first attempt.
We have our own boat courtesy of a generous local benefactor, and have recently purchased a 10 seater ‘baby boat’ too for our smaller ‘runs’. We are well supported by local sponsors with our major sponsor being the Laurieton United Servicemens Club without whom we would still be an idea rather than a flourishing and growing club.
Haven Dragons train and paddle on the beautiful Camden River on the Mid-North Coast of NSW – God’s country! We paddle on Sat, Sun, Tues, Weds & Thurs during the week and if you’re already a paddler then why not link to our roster page here and come and paddle with us.
Dragon Boat racing is the fastest growing sport in the country and is great for fitness and fun with a great social side too……..it’s the ultimate team sport and, to quote a phrase, ‘There’s no i in Team”.
